Investment judgment. Operating discipline.

A disciplined approach across the upstream lifecycle.

Summit Natural Resources evaluates onshore oil and natural gas opportunities through an integrated engineering, geological, commercial and operating lens. We apply disciplined underwriting, practical field execution and responsible stewardship across acquisitions, exploration, development and operations.

Investment and operating capability

From existing production to field development.

Summit evaluates, develops and operates onshore oil and natural gas opportunities in the U.S. Lower 48 states only, excluding California and New York. Our engineering and operating capabilities extend across the asset lifecycle, from optimizing existing production to drilling exploration and development wells and advancing large acreage or mineral positions.

01

Producing-asset acquisitions

Acquire and operate producing assets supported by existing production, with opportunities to protect performance, control operating costs and pursue workovers, recompletions, infield drilling and other economic development projects.

02

Exploration and development

Evaluate subsurface potential, design and execute exploration and development drilling programs, and establish the infrastructure and operating plan required to develop a field.

03

Integrated execution

Apply engineering, geology, commercial analysis and field operations to reserves and resource evaluation, well planning, drilling, completions, production, infrastructure, costs and risk management.

Operating principles

Principles that guide our decisions

Positive cash flow first

We begin with existing production and evaluate whether it can generate durable positive cash flow after field operating expenses, maintenance requirements, recurring expenses and other asset-level obligations. We favor opportunities with a meaningful margin of cash generation above expected expenses.

Operations matter

We connect engineering analysis with field execution. Protecting base production, improving reliability, controlling costs and pursuing selective high-return work are active operating responsibilities.

Stewardship endures

Long-term value depends on safe and responsible operations, sound asset integrity and respectful relationships with landowners, employees, partners, regulators and communities.

Decision process

From opportunity to operating performance

Our process connects acquisition judgment with the operating decisions required after closing.

  1. 01

    Source

Develop opportunities through relationships and disciplined market coverage.

  2. 02

    Underwrite

Integrate reservoir, production, operating, commercial, environmental and liability analysis within the relevant basin context.

  3. 03

    Structure

Align price, financing, hedging, obligations and downside protection with the asset.

  4. 04

    Execute

Drill exploration or development wells, protect base production, improve reliability and execute selective projects appropriate to the opportunity.

  5. 05

    Measure

Compare actual results with the underwriting case and carry the lessons into future decisions.

Through-cycle perspective

Built for the full operating cycle.

Upstream opportunities require judgment from initial evaluation through drilling, development, operations and realization. Summit's approach emphasizes flexibility, measured capital deployment, close attention to operating results and continuous comparison with the original plan. That discipline supports sound decisions across changing commodity prices and operating conditions. See the realized track record →
